I received my PhD from Florida State University in 2007 in comparative politics and political economy. I have since moved into the field of Quality of Governmet (QoG) and cross-country corruption studies. More specifically, my research focuses on several main areas:
1. Decentralization and QoG at the regional level, in particular within the European Union.
2. The impact of political institutions on QoG, such as electoral systems, federalism, and differences within authoritarian regimes
3. How international factors impact QoG, such as economic and social globalization, foreign aid and international institutions.
4. Measurement of QoG at the sub-national level and developing comparable metrics that scholars and policy makers can use to assess regional differences in QoG within and across countries.
